Watching, on behalf of the beneficiaries
Global Gateway Watch is an independent civil-society initiative. We track the European Union's Global Gateway as it unfolds across Africa and ask a single, plain question on behalf of the people it names as beneficiaries: does it do what it says it does — or is something being hidden from them?
Our reading is built from primary and secondary sources: the European Commission's CUSA corridor mapping; the 2020 assessment of EU external action by the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (DIE); the EU's own internal strategy documents and the joint EU–Africa 2030 Vision Progress Report; and field analysis from CIPESA, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa, FOSCII, Eurodad and MenaFEM, among others.
